Obesidad visceral y riesgo de infarto de miocardio

Resumen

Introducción: La obesidad visceral, es considerada una patología de alto impacto en la enfermedad coronaria. El infarto agudo de miocardio se define patológicamente como la muerte de células miocárdicas debida a isquemia prolongada.  Objetivo: evaluar la asociación entre obesidad visceral e infarto agudo de miocardio y su papel como identificador de riesgo. Materiales y métodos: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura, de artículos de los últimos 5 años, en los idiomas español e inglés, obtenidos de bases de datos reconocidas. Discusión: La obesidad central aumenta el riesgo de IAM y tienen una repercusión directa sobre la morbimortalidad en pacientes con desarrollo de mayores eventos adversos cardiovasculares. Conclusión: La obesidad central, es el mejor indicador de riesgo cardiovascular antropométrico, para desarrollar eventos cardiovasculares adversos, por lo que, su prevención podría ayudar a disminuir las tasas de infarto en las próximas décadas.
